In 1983, Rachel Binah a
renowned North Coast Innkeeper and Caterer purchased a very
run-down 1868 Mendocino Farmhouse with the goal of turning
it into a Bed and Breakfast Inn. Two years and much sweat later, after
extensive renovations she opened Rachel's Inn, one of the
first B&B's in the area and launched two decades of
outstanding guest services. In June 2003,
Richard Grabow
purchased Rachel's Inn, changed the name to Auberge
Mendocino, redecorated the Inn to resemble a French Country
Inn, and continued to build on the solid foundation of
20 years of renowned hospitality.
In July 2004 Rich and Kathy
Carpenito, two native New Yorkers, came to the Mendocino
Coast in search of a lifestyle change. Their dream was
to own and operate a bed and breakfast Inn in northern
California. During their first visit to the area, they
were immediately drawn to the rugged Coast by its abundant
natural beauty and exceptionally friendly atmosphere.
They were searching for the right destination vacation
getaway and found it in Little River, CA.
Driven by a strong desire to
provide an exceedingly relaxing and soothing environment for
each guest to experience, Rich and Kathy along with
Christina and Peter, dog Jedi and two cats Simon and Jupiter
began an adventurous journey from Northwestern New Jersey in
January 2005.
Over the years, Auberge has
added up-to-date amenities, provided unparallel service to
their guests through an exceptionally attentive staff and
pampered their palate with
lavish breakfasts and desserts. As part of the
Inns amenities, Auberge Mendocino offers the public areas of
the Inn as a revolving art gallery for local artists.
The owners and staff at
Auberge Mendocino are thoroughly committed to achieving a
unique experience for each guest by making the Auberge
Mendocino the perfect place to visit, relax and unwind.
Rich, Kathy and staff are
committed to maintaining the purity and natural beauty of
the Mendocino Coast as Rachel was. Next to Auberge
Mendocino there is a path to the
headlands,
which we will call the "Congressional Walk" because Rachel
had used it to lobby many elected officials against the
development of offshore oil.
"We are so very lucky to be
here in this place, at a time when trouble swirls around in
many parts of the world and our country. We are
Stewards who must preserve and share our good fortune with
neighbors and guests and try in our time to leave this place
a little better off then we found it."

YOU CAN HELP
As you experience the splendor that is the Mendocino Coast,
its majestic cliffs, fresh air, clear water and rich
abundant marine life, please understand its fragile nature.
Take a moment to imagine this
ocean cluttered with oil derricks, the beaches and headlands
lifeless from toxins and oil spills, our coastal valleys
filled with the stench and clutter of oil refineries and
24-hour helicopter traffic.
Please write to your
congressional representatives and urge them to co-sponsor
National Ocean Protection legislation. |
