Hiking and cycling trails are abundant. Whatever your interest - birding, beaches, sand dunes, headlands, fern canyons, logging trails, geological formations such as the pygmy forest and ecological staircase or our historical villages you'll get your exercise! Two of the best guides are The Hiker's Hip Pocket Guide to the Mendocino Coast and Mendocino Outdoors. Both are available for your perusal or purchase at the Inn. Many trails are found in Jackson State Demonstration Forest and area parks.

A word of Caution.  The ocean is cold and rough and dangerous. (http://www.mcn.org/1/mendo parks/danger.htm)  Every year we loose a few visitors to the sea.  Never, ever turn your back on the ocean, stay well back from the Cliff’s edge and please heed all warnings.
